I greet you, my dear friend.
My name is Shen Yu, and I am almost ninety-three years old. Many people ask me the same question: What is the secret to staying strong, calm, and clear for so many years? My answer is simple — I move every day.
Movement is not about sport, competition, or pushing the body to exhaustion. Movement is about staying alive from the inside. When the body stops moving, energy becomes stagnant. And when energy stagnates, the mind follows.
Movement Keeps the Body Awake
The human body was not created to sit still for hours. It was made to walk, stretch, bend, breathe, and flow. Even gentle movement improves circulation, supports digestion, strengthens muscles, and protects the joints. You do not need heavy training. A slow walk, morning stretching, or simple movements done with awareness are enough.
I have seen many people age not because of years, but because of stillness. They stop moving, and slowly the body forgets how to live. Movement reminds the body that it is still needed.

Movement Clears the Mind
When you move, your thoughts move too. Anxiety loosens. Worry softens. The mind becomes quieter without effort. This is why walking monks often look calm — their bodies are in motion, and their thoughts follow the rhythm.
You do not need to sit in meditation for hours to calm the mind. Sometimes, a slow walk in silence does more than many words.
Movement Is a Daily Promise to Yourself
I do not move because I am strong. I am strong because I move. Even on days when the body feels tired, I still move gently. This is a promise I keep with myself — to respect the life that flows through me.
Movement is not something you do once. It is something you return to every day, like breathing.

Move Gently, But Move Daily
Do not wait for motivation. Do not wait for perfect conditions. Move in the morning. Move in the evening. Move slowly if you must, but do not stop.
If you want to age with strength, clarity, and dignity, remember this simple truth:
Movement is not optional.
Movement is life.
Walk your path gently, my friend — but keep moving.
